How to care for your hair after a Brazilian straightening treatment: our advice

Brazilian straightening is a styling technique that allows hair to be straightened in a lasting way and gives it a shiny and silky appearance.

If you have just had a Brazilian blowout, it is important to take care of your hair to maintain the results for as long as possible. Here are some tips for taking care of your hair after a Brazilian blowout:

Use suitable care products:

To maintain the smoothing effect of Brazilian straightening, it is important to use suitable care products. Opt for nourishing shampoos and conditioners that will moisturize and protect your hair. Avoid products that contain sulfates or bleaching agents, which can be too aggressive for your hair.

Avoid high temperatures:

Brazilian straightening involves using high temperatures to straighten your hair. To protect your hair, it is important not to expose your hair to too high temperatures after straightening. So avoid spending too much time under the hair dryer or using straighteners or curling irons at high temperatures.

Protect your hair from humidity:

Humidity can be the enemy of Brazilian blowouts, as it can cause hair to swell and lose its smoothing effect. To protect your hair from humidity, use styling products that help smooth hair and hold it in place. You can also use a humidity protection spray to help preserve the smoothing effect of your Brazilian blowout.

Do deep treatments regularly:

To maintain the softness and shine of your hair, it is important to do deep conditioning regularly. You can use nourishing hair masks or treatment oils to help protect and nourish your hair.

By following these tips, you should be able to maintain the results of your Brazilian straightening for as long as possible and have shiny, silky hair.

There are also a few other tips to follow to take care of your hair after a Brazilian straightening treatment:

Pay attention to the brush you use:

A soft, natural-bristle brush is a better option for straightened hair, as it is less abrasive and less likely to cause breakage. Avoid fine-toothed combs or plastic brushes, which can be too harsh for your hair.

Do not tie your hair when it is wet:

When your hair is wet, it is more fragile and more likely to break. So avoid tying or twisting your hair when it is wet, and let it air dry before styling.

Make regular cuts:

To prevent your hair from breaking or splitting, it is important to trim it regularly. This will help remove split ends and give your hair a healthy, shiny appearance.

Take breaks:

It is important not to do Brazilian straightening too often, as it can be aggressive for your hair. Take breaks of a few months between each straightening to let your hair rest and regenerate.

By following these tips, you should be able to take care of your hair after a Brazilian blowout and maintain its shiny and silky appearance. Remember to ask your hairdresser or stylist for advice before getting a Brazilian blowout, to make sure that this technique is suitable for your hair type.

There are also a few mistakes to avoid when caring for your hair after a Brazilian blowout:

Do not use overly aggressive care products:

As Brazilian blowouts can be harsh on your hair, it is important to use gentle, nourishing care products. Avoid products that contain sulfates or bleaches, which can be too harsh on your hair.

Don't neglect shampooing:

Although Brazilian straightening allows you to extend the time between each shampoo, it is important not to neglect this step of care. Use a gentle and nourishing shampoo to maintain the softness and shine of your hair.

Do not do Brazilian straightening too often:

As mentioned before, it is important not to do Brazilian straightening too often, as it can be aggressive for your hair. Take breaks of a few months between each straightening to let your hair rest and regenerate.

Do not use hair straighteners or curling irons at high temperatures:

To protect your hair, it is important not to use hair straighteners or curling irons at high temperatures. Instead, use appliances at moderate temperatures and don't forget to apply a heat protection spray before styling your hair.

By avoiding these mistakes and following the tips mentioned above, you should be able to take care of your hair after a Brazilian straightening treatment and maintain its shiny and silky appearance. Don't hesitate to ask your hairdresser or stylist for personalized advice.
