Le guide du lissage brésilien sur cheveux afros crépus

The guide to Brazilian straightening on frizzy afro hair

Brazilian straightening is known for its amazing results on all hair types, this treatment can transform the most resistant and untamable hair into smooth and silky hair, while nourishing it deeply. In the vast panorama of hair care, it is the Brazilian keratin straightening that is revealed as the best solution to obtain smooth and shiny hair, while revitalizing it from the inside.

For those looking for a solution for their curly, frizzy or kinky hair, Brazilian straightening is often the most recommended. But how effective is it on afro frizzy hair? Is it suitable for the richness and complexity of these unique textures?

What is Brazilian straightening?

Brazilian straightening is a hair treatment that uses a keratin solution to straighten hair. Keratin is a natural protein that makes up the structure of hair. It is responsible for its strength, elasticity and shine.

The Brazilian hair straightening process begins with cleansing the hair. Then, a keratin solution is applied strand by strand. The solution is then heated using a hair straightener to seal the keratin into the hair.

Brazilian straightening generally lasts between 3 and 6 months, depending on the quality of the hair and the care given after the treatment.

Benefits of Brazilian Straightening for Afro Kinky Hair

Kinky hair tends to frizz in response to humidity in the air because of its high natural porosity. Brazilian blowouts fill these pores and create a protective layer that helps repel humidity. This means that even on humid days or when exposed to environments where hair might normally start to frizz, it remains smooth and defined.

The reduction in frizz makes it much easier to style your hair without the "stick effect". Hair is more flexible, less likely to tangle and can be combed effortlessly. This benefit is particularly appreciated by those who have busy schedules and are looking to optimize their morning routine.

Brazilian straightening offers many advantages to afro frizzy or very curly hair, in particular:

  • Frizz Reduction: Afro kinky hair tends to be dry and frizzy. Brazilian straightening helps reduce frizz and tame hair.

  • Ease of styling: Brazilian straightening makes hair easier to style and straighten.

  • Hair Protection: The keratin in the Brazilian straightening solution helps protect hair from chemical and heat damage.

  • Reduced Daily Styling Time: Brazilian blowouts can reduce daily styling time, which can be a huge benefit for people with afro kinky hair.

It is important to choose the right products to care for your hair after Brazilian straightening. Products for frizzy hair that are enriched with natural nutrients, such as vegetable oils and plant extracts, can help prolong the effects of the treatment while nourishing the hair. Using a range of products dedicated to treated hair will keep your hair not only smooth and frizz-free, but also healthy and strong.

Important considerations before proceeding

Before getting a Brazilian blowout, it is important to consider the following:

  • Hair Condition: Hair should be in good health before undergoing a Brazilian blowout. If your hair is damaged or chemically treated, it is best to consult a professional before making a decision.
  • Strand test: It is always recommended to do a strand test before proceeding with a Brazilian straightening treatment. This will allow you to see how your hair reacts to the treatment and to detect possible allergic reactions.

  • Hair Type: Brazilian straightening is suitable for afro frizzy hair, but it is important to choose a product that is suitable for your hair type. You can find out your hair type with this test

  • Product Selection : It is important to select high quality products that are suitable for frizzy hair. Marc Grays Brazilian straightening formulas are gentle and designed to strengthen and deeply nourish hair.
  • Contraindications: Brazilian straightening is contraindicated for chemically treated, damaged or brittle hair .

Steps of the Brazilian straightening process on frizzy afro hair

1. Preparation

Start by washing your hair with a clarifying shampoo to remove any product buildup and open the cuticles. This helps ensure the keratin mixture will apply evenly.

Marc Grays Unilova Clarifying Shampoo with jaborandi, argan oil, mint extract and rosemary will help remove any residue on the surface of your hair and deeply cleanse your scalp. This is a crucial step to ensure the smoothing treatment penetrates effectively.

If you have highlighted, weakened, bleached or elastic hair, wash your hair with a post-treatment strengthening shampoo such as Nutrilova from the Marc Grays Brazilian Smoothing Kit

2. Application of the mixture

Once the clarifying shampoo is applied, your hair will be ready to receive the Keralova smoothing treatment.
Apply the keratin mixture is then applied strand by strand, making sure to distribute it well without saturating the hair. The mixture is usually left to sit for about 30 minutes, allowing the keratin to penetrate the hair. Wear gloves and follow the specific instructions for the product you are using.

3. Exposure time

Leave the product on the hair for the recommended time (20 to 30 min) and depending on what you want to achieve:

  • 100% Keralova for Brazilian straightening
  • 50% Keralova + 50% Aminolova for a B-TOX
  • 25% Keralova + 75% Aminolova for a redefinition of the curl

The exposure time is essential to allow the keratin to fix itself to the hair.
Then rinse your hair to remove all of the product.

4. Rebalancing

At this stage it is advisable to rebalance the PH of your hair with an Aminolova hair repair shampoo, which also helps prevent possible yellowing and lightening.

Leave on for 10 minutes and rinse thoroughly.

5. Drying

After the setting time, dry the hair carefully with a hair dryer to reduce the drying time before passing the plates which allows the keratin to be fixed. Your hair must be completely dry before moving on to the heat straightening step .

6. Heat Smoothing

With a hair straightener at the temperature indicated to seal the keratin in the hair. Pass the iron slowly and evenly over small sections to ensure perfect straightening.

For curl redefinition: pass the plates at 180°, 5 to 6 times on strands corresponding to the thickness of a finger to fix the treatment and guarantee a result lasting 2 months. For bleached, highlighted, weakened hair, pass the plates only 2 to 3 times to fix the treatment.

For B-tox: run the plates at 230°, 10 times on 2 cm thick sections until the section is shiny.
This will tell you that the scales are closed properly. For bleached, highlighted or weakened hair, run the plates 5 to 6 times at 180°. This type of treatment lasts 2 to 3 months.

For Brazilian straightening: make fine strands (transparent limit) and pass the plates at 230°, 10 times until you obtain a shine at the level of the strand. This will indicate to you that the scales are well closed. For bleached, highlighted or weakened hair, pass the plates 5 to 6 times at 180°. The average duration of a Brazilian straightening is 4 to 6 months.

7. Post-treatment maintenance tips

In the 24 hours after applying your hair care product, you should avoid:

  • Wash or wet your hair.
  • Do not tie your hair up or put it behind your ears.
  • Do not do sports or any activity that causes excessive sweating.
  • If a bad crease is created, apply a quick pass of the plate to correct it.

To maintain Brazilian straightening for as long as possible, it is important to follow some maintenance tips:

  • Use sulfate-free styling products : Sulfates can remove keratin from the hair. Use Nutrilova shampoo, or a salt-free shampoo daily and especially moisturize your hair well with a mask enriched with keratin (Nutrilova Mask)
  • Do not colour: colours with ammonia or lightening treatments (balayage, highlights, tie and dye, etc.) can reduce the effects of your straightening.
  • Dry your hair: for up to 3 weeks after your treatment, continue to dry your hair 100% with a hair dryer to prolong the effects of your treatment.
  • Avoid oil baths: they suffocate the hair fiber.
  • Avoid washing your hair too often : Wash your hair every 3 to 4 days, or more often if necessary.
  • Protect your hair from heat : Use a heat protectant spray before straightening your hair.

What you need to know:

  • Colored or highlighted hair will lighten after using a Brazilian straightening treatment.
  • It is impossible to get straight hair with a Brazilian straightening treatment because it is a thermo-active treatment that makes styling easier on a daily basis.
  • Wait at least until the first shampoo after the treatment in order to recolor (the color must always be ammonia-free).

Each step is essential to achieve the desired smoothing and maintain the health of frizzy hair. Marc Grays Smoothing Kits are specially designed to facilitate your Brazilian smoothing at home.

Brazilian blowouts are an attractive hair styling option for those looking to tame their frizzy afro hair and enjoy smooth, shiny locks. However, it is important to consider this treatment as a serious endeavor that requires understanding and commitment. The benefits, such as reduced frizz and easier styling, can be significant, but they should be carefully weighed against the maintenance requirements and specific needs of your hair.

For those who decide to pursue Brazilian straightening, choosing quality products and following the recommended steps and care are crucial to ensuring the health and beauty of hair in the long term. This is why Marc Grays strives to achieve quality Brazilian straightening by listening to its users.
