When to wash your hair after a Brazilian straightening treatment?

You've been poring over magazines without seeing the time go by, then heading for the full blown drying and the famous straightening with the irons and multiple passes over each strand. It's over. Mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all? You, without a doubt. You're getting "Wow"s from those around you and you're running your hands through your hair at will.

If there was a podium, we would find you there. But there comes a time when you have to face the fact that shampoo becomes a necessity, because oily or dirty hair remains oily or dirty hair, with or without Brazilian straightening.

The rules to follow with Brazilian straightening

But what will be the result? What will become of your hair that is so spoiled, so enriched with keratin? Your magician or magician from the salon does not live in yours. He or she has nevertheless given you a few rules to follow.

  • Brazilian straightening is not a straightening treatment, it coats the hair with keratin, the raw material of hair.
  • The hair regains material, but at the root it will grow back into its natural material. If you curl or frizz, at the base of your skull the hair will be curly or frizzy…
  • Keratin nourishes the hair, the hair becomes softer along the length.
  • Brazilian straightening allows for easier blow-drying.
  • Depending on the nature of your hair, the effect may be different. For hair that is already straight, Brazilian straightening will mainly become a restorative treatment. Wavy, you avoid the straightening iron box. It will become straight more easily. If your hair is curly, it will be wavy and sometimes straight depending on your natural curls. Frizzy hair will turn into curly. As for the last category, frizzy hair, it will be relaxed and you will be able to style it more easily.
  • Prefer smoothing without formaldehyde which is a chemical substance. The rate of 0.2% should not be exceeded. If you do it at home, check the label carefully. Especially if you are pregnant, it is not advisable to use products containing certain molecules that could be harmful.

You say to yourself that keratin and you are delighted with these benefits that can make all women happy. And men too… Why not…

When to wash your hair after a Brazilian straightening treatment?

  • Do not wash your hair for at least three days after Brazilian straightening . The treatment applied continues to work for the next three days. It takes this time for the keratin to fully set. Since Brazilian straightening does not break the hair structure (unlike Japanese straightening or straightening), it is normal for the hair to regain its shape after the first shampoo. It is the drying and heat of the straighteners or hair dryer that will restore the smoothing effect.
  • It is important to avoid any humidity during this 72-hour period . If it rains, a hood is mandatory. If it is too hot, a fan or air conditioning is mandatory to prevent sweat from playing spoilsport. Barrettes and other accessories should also be avoided so as not to distort the smoothing.
  • Post-straightening shampoos will naturally remove the keratin with each pass. Avoid shampoos with sulfates. They are the ones that make the keratin run away, worse they accelerate the process. It is also important that it is sodium-free , salt reduces the effectiveness of the keratin. And without silicone which could also attack the keratin. Prefer gentle shampoos and natural ingredients that will not be aggressive.
  • Avoid washing your hair every day. It's neither good for the planet nor for the straightening. Each time you wash your hair, the keratin goes away... Instead, shampoo once or twice a week.
  • If you go to the sea or the swimming pool, be careful, they are also accelerators in the process of keratin destruction...
  • A conditioner enriched with keratin can help maintain the effects of the straightening treatment and prolong it.
  • As the Brazilian straightening treatment progresses, the hair will become smoother and healthier, because it will regularly receive this famous keratin.

The results of a well-maintained smoothing

You are ready to take the plunge or rather step into the shower for this first shampoo.

It's with some trepidation that you put the first drop in your hand. You wash your hair. The foam lathers and nothing seems to be different at this stage of the journey.

You remove the excess water from your head and look at yourself in the mirror. Your hair is much smoother than usual. Armed with your hair dryer, you become a magician in turn. Your hair is smooth again… The waves disappear. Your hair is still as soft… With that little extra naturalness that belongs only to you.

You dared and you are not disappointed... Brazilian straightening keeps its promise. You understood that you will have to take care of it so that it lasts as long as possible. Brazilian straightening, like an elixir, has made you more beautiful in your eyes and that is also all its magic.

Satisfaite
